The name IL Pizzico ® literally means “The Pinch”.
It describes the culinary belief of proprietor Enzo Livia. To
serve Italian food a wise chef must begin with authentic recipes,
and then add the right pinch of herbs and spices to give his personal
touch to the dish. Recognized as one of the “Top 100 restaurants”
by Washingtonian magazine, guests at IL Pizzico ® dine in
a casual, intimate atmosphere surrounded by beautiful murals hand
painted by local Italian artists.
The menu features a varied selection of seafood, meats and a vast
selection of home made pastas. Most desserts are home made as
well. The mainly Italian wine list offers wines from different
regions to complement your dining experience at IL Pizzico ®
Located at 15209 Frederick Rd. in Rockville, Maryland the restaurant
serves lunch Monday to Friday from 11:00 am to 2:30 pm and dinner
Monday to Thursday from 5:00pm to 9:30pm Friday and Saturday from
5:00pm to 10:00pm.
Chef Profile:
Enzo Livia, chef and owner of IL Pizzico ® Ristorante was
involved in the restaurant industry at an early age spending time
in his father’s restaurants. He started showing his cooking
abilities by making dinner at home under his mother guidance.
“We had our big meal at lunch time because my father was
home by 2:00 pm and I came from school at that time. It was the
time for our family to be together. At dinner time it was a different
story. My father was out to the restaurant and we had to eat leftovers
or improvise dinner which I did many times for friends and family”.
He came to United States in 1980 to complete his college education
not knowing his hidden cooking abilities until 1986 when his involvement
in the restaurant industry started in the US. “When I was
in college I was always invited to cook dinner for my friends
at different events”. Chef Enzo began to showcase his cooking
abilities when he opened IL Pizzico ® Ristorante 1990. He
transformed a small store front deli into one of the most recognized
restaurants in Maryland. A self educated chef, Enzo’s philosophy
is simplicity combined with time honored and high quality ingredients
are the key to a great meal.
